I gushed over this. Till friend gently said this was where many drowned when the Tsunamis hit on 26 Dec 04.
Hence, I reversed the lines of the Chinese poem which forms the title of this entry.
And of cos this did not come from me. My Chinese standard is not that good. One of my Chinese lecturers from China said when you reversed the lines, sometimes a message of hope appears and quoted this as an example.

Instead of just reversing the order, which doesn't make much sense, there's one variation of this that was made up years years ago...
但得西阳无限好 勿须愁怅近黄昏
All from memory, cannot rem if they are right.

Reversing the lines doesn't necessarily reverse the moral of the story. In this case, the tune of the peom will be different if one character replaced.
夕阳无限好，只因近黄昏。
I cannot help having modified another word 西 to 夕 to be loyal to the original.
Actually reversing order of the lines does matter.
In the original order 西阳无限好,只是近黄昏, the meaning is "The setting sun looks immensely wonderful (or somewhere close)" whilst the second part is "but its limited to the evening." Here the focus is talking about how limited god things are. and that good things dun last.
In the reverse order, 只是近黄昏，西阳无限好, the meaning is "It is ONLY towards the evening (end of the daytime) when we see how immensely wonderful the setting sun is. Thus there is a longing, and a movement towards something wonderful.
IMHO, this should be what your professor has said to you in the past. My chinese is not really the powderful but I hope this helps.

straight from chinese sense, u don't use '只是' and '近' to bring out the meaning of a good setting sun in the evening.
