Watching SATC
Sex and The City (STAC) is not just one of the latest summer blockbuster offerings. STAC is one of those movies where you have to be selective about who you watch it with. At least for me.
It seems apt that for a movie about girlfriends, heartbreaks, and wanton material consumerism, you should be a movie snob and choose only the right companions. At least for me.
So when a colleague asked me if I wanted to join them in catching this, I politely declined. It just wasnt right. At least for me.
That would have been treason of the highest order.
SATC is a movie that you catch with a group of your girlfriends, who have seen you through last minute exam mugging, heartbreaks, first time clubbing, first time behind the wheel, first job interviews, first jobs, first scoldings from the boss, first pay increases, first promotions, first major retail therapy with your own money, first holidays and the like.
And it could only be with the girl friends. As what a local credit card tagline goes, the men dont get it. (yes this includes gay friends)
Only then, would it be a befitting tribute to the tv series.
